2010-2011 NBA Season Predictions

 by Reuben Guevarra

The NBA Season is coming fast and I want to kick things off with my own season predictions. An unbiased and calculated prediction of a die hard basketball fan who looks at different perspectives when it comes to teams and the league. So without further audeu here it is.

Playoffs

West

  1. La Lakers
  2. Dallas Mavericks
  3. San Antonio Spurs
  4. Oklahoma City Thunder
  5. Utah Jazz
  6. Denver Nuggets
  7. Portland Trailblazers
  8.  New Orleans Hornets
East

     1. Miami Heat
     2.Orlando Magic
     3. Chicago Bulls
     4. Boston Celtics
     5. Atlanta Hawks
     6. Milwaukee Bucks
     7. New York Knicks
     8. Charlotte Bobcats

Most Valuable Player

Kobe Bryant

The Black Mamba wants another ring and with Miami’s big three forming and Shaq joining Boston  he gains more motivation to become better than ever. Since the Wade and LeBron cancel each other out expect them to move from of the MVP picture and its highly doubtful that the Thunder could make it into the top of the conference since they are now the hunted not the hunter. No one can challenge Kobe as top dog in the NBA except maybe Dwight but his 2nd option mindset hinder that.

The 5 time NBA champion looking
to defend his title this year and
tie Michael Jordan in rings.

Rookie of the Year

The number 1 Overall Pick
this year looking to make
a huge splash in the league

John Wall

Wall is an amazing talent no matter what they say about Blake Griffin having a year of NBA experience on under his belt and with Turner fighting for alpha dog status in Philly the sky is the limit for Wall. Wall would be able to slash to the rim at will and have Arenas, Yi and Mcgee to dish too which would increase his assist total. Don’t forget the veteran leadership of Flip Saunders and Kirk Hinrich is always there.

Defensive Player of the Year

LeBron James

LBJ trying to win his 1st nba championship and prove the doubters wrong

The biggest news of the summer is the formation of the New Big Three in South Beach. Wade and Bosh would take the scoring load of Bron making him focus more on defense which he already did back in 2008. And with the king being the runner up of the DPOY last year look for him to win  the league’s best defender award. Yes over Dwight.

Most Improved Player

Beasley's expirience is crucial for the young wolves
Michael Beasley

Getting traded to Wolves is the best thing that would happen to Mr. Beasley .He is a young player on a young squad that would most likely make him a top option on this team. He and Wesley Johnson would take all the shots for Flynn and Love are better of being role players at this point in their careers.

Sixth Man of the Year

Jamison looking to lead the Cavs in the Playoffs for the 6th straight year
 Antawn Jamison

Rumored to be coming off the bench for the Cavs. The potential starting 5 could be Williams, Parker, Vajerao, Hickson and Graham. With no one on the bench except perhaps Sessions to take shots expect the nba veteran to handle most of the scoring load for the Cavs this upcoming season.

Coach of the Year

Tom Thibodeau

The former Celtics assistant coach leading the up and coming bulls to become perennial title contenders.

The bulls are a sure spot in becoming a top 4 team in the Eastern Conference they added a low post presence in Carlos Boozer, sharp shooter Kyle Korver and wingman Ronnie Brewer. They also extended center Joakim Noah and Derrick Rose got better by adding extended shooting range in his arsenal and gaining valuable expirience from the FIBA World games. But their biggest off season pickup was their coach. Tom was the former defensive mastermind behind the Celtics defense. Adding his defensive know how to the Bulls youth could spell disaster for the rest of the league.
